Celebration IV * Los Angeles
******************************************************************************
I first got the idea to make a Twi'lek costume while I was standing in the endless lines of Star Wars Celebration II. There were a number of Twi'lek costumes around me, and I found myself repeatedly caught somewhere between two thoughts:
"There's another Aayla! That's really cool!"
and...
"C'mon, people... stuffed nylons? We can do better than that!"
And so, I set about the task of creating a Twi'lek costume of my own. Stuffed nylons were not an option I was willing to entertain, and neither was sewing a pair of lekku out of fabric; so I spent the next few months researching. Eventually I settled on a method commonly used to make latex masks, and I began the challenge of learning about using latex and body paints.
I designed this web page to chronicle how it all worked out, and to share the information that I have learned along the way. Hopefully it will come in handy for other Twi’lek enthusiasts out there!
I have also included a gallery to showcase the stunning Twi’lek creations that have been designed by other Twi’lek costumers. There are some incredible costumes out there!
