Here's my very first attempt at my Sith Twi'lek, i used the Wermo's Guide, and i made the lek. had it wrapped around my neck and held in place with fasteners.

The color wasn't a match, from the headpiece and my makeup. Noticed that when i got my costume together. LOL

But enjoy, got a couple complements on it, but can't wait to unmask him for C5, which Pam's lek!

woohoo

Whalp, since we're posting our early attempts, I'll put mine up, too. :D

This was for a Port Jefferson charity gig at the town center a week and a half ago - my real costume (coffee brown/tan jedi robes and headdress) was still in the 'patterns pinned to fabric' stage - in another state! So I ransacked my old clothes and my remnants box. The makeup isn't as green as in the pics, part of the issue is the venue's lighting, part of the issue was auto-flash.

There weren't many photos taken of me by people in the troupe or our buddies, as I got swooped away immediately after the fight demo for photo ops with the kids. Even though I was yellow (and, no licensed characters are used for legal reasons) LOTS of little children called me "Aayla", and everyone wanted to touch the lekku!

My charity group is doing a photo shoot later this month so I'll have gallery-worthy pics up then.

Lightsaber effects and some color correction added. I think the below shot is from a video.

Headshot, had a lot of people around me.

This photo pair is my favorite because it really shows just how far I've come as a Twi'lek costumer.

I made this outfit for Celebration III, and really floundered. I had to wear the leftover fabric as a shawl to keep warm and hide the badly rubbed-off paint, I chickened out and wore shorts under the skirt, I forgot my bracelets in the hotel, my lekku didn't fit well, the chin strap was choking me, the back seam of the shirt started tearing soon after I put it on, I had forgotten my gold sandals at home and had to borrow a black pair from someone, I didn't even consider putting on some makeup over the body paint, and when my friend took the picture on the left, I couldn't even get up the nerve to look at his camera.

A few years later I decided to give that costume another chance. I repaired the torn seams, made a better lekku headpiece, exercised off a few pounds, and got brave enough to toss the shorts aside. Then, I took it with me to D*Con. A few years worth of costuming experience has done wonders for my self confidence, though I still have a bit of a shy attack before I get up the nerve to step out in costume, and I still can't pose worth a darn. But, here's my proof that while most of us start out at the bottom of the experience ladder when it comes to costuming... that ladder CAN be climbed. Sewing skills can be learned, body paint can be mastered, and supply lists for each costume can help ensure that nothing gets left at home. All it takes is some determination, some practice, and the knowledge that even when you're just starting out there WILL be people who are willing to encourage and support you.

The left side is from Celebration III in 2005, and the right is from Dragon*Con 2008. Same costume, different rungs on the experience ladder:

Very cool Pam, I know what you mean. The first costume I did was of a pantoran X-wing pilot and my son still teases me about how bad it was.

This was my latest incarnation of a Twi'lek, A pink Twi'lek Jedi done for a charity event here in Melbourne for the Australian Breast Cancer Network. The theme of which is a "Pink" their symbol is a pink lady.

My partner called me "Darth Bacon" after the dog got all excited to see me like this and suggested it was because I looked like giant bacon, obviously a deity of some form, worshipped by dogs...

Here are my 3 Twi'leks so far. Twi'lek slave dancer, I have two Darth Talon costumes, as you can see, I had my pic with Pam in her awesome Aayla taken at CIV! :) Other one is me as Talon in her cloak from Legacy Issue #17. And my Hutters waitress that I wore to Dragon Con 2008.
