Does anyone know of any good fabric stores besides Joanns or Walmart. I live in Florida so any stores in FL would be great. Any reliable online stores would be great too. Thanks.

I have no advice here. I'm on Long Island (New York, USA) and use two local places. One is a discount fabrics warehouse that gets odds and ends from the bigger stores, and one is a huge fabric store owned by a friend's family. Neither are chains so I can't even say 'oh hit their website'. :(

I'm always checking JoAnnes, Beverly's, and Walmart for fabric... but I usually want something more "exotic" than what they carry when I'm making costumes, so I get most of my fabric online. (By exotic I mean stretch fabric with an interesting weave or pattern. The local stores tend to focus on cotton quilting fabric, which just doesn't work well for skin-tight outfits that are supposed to be from a galaxy far, far away!)

Here are some of my favorite fabric sources:

Dharma Trading Company (The best place to get white fabric and dye!) - http://www.dharmatrading.com/

Hey all. I have a suede fabric that I want to paint a pattern on. I already have acrylic paint and want to know if this is ok to use or must I use fabric paint?

It's always safest to use fabric paints since they're developed specifically for that purpose and often have a "heat set" option which makes them more permanent. If you really want to use acrylic, you can always test it on a scrap piece of the fabric and see how it works. Make sure it doesn't crack or peel off once it's dry, wash it... make sure it stays put.
