I do not know of any templates although I believe Pam had done one for her version. It was on Flagship Eclipse forum.

I also do not think there is an official set design for them, as far as I have seen from the comics, action figure, busts, statues, posters and whatnot, the designs are always different to some degree. I used the Sideshow Collectibles statue alot for my latest version. I will have a tutorial up soon for my second version with how I made the armor of leather if that will help you any.

Also I do not know if you plan on body paint or bodysuit, but if you get a bodysuit, I recommend a zentai with a hood, rather than a suit with a mock turtle neck.

im also worried that i would have trouble keeping my lekku on without a headwrap. I have a latex set from Pam and I think i have too much hair for it to fit snugly.

Try using a wig cap. (its a nylon cap that looks kind of like a swim cap if you don't know what one is) I usually pin up my hair with a ton of bobby pins and then put on the cap to keep everything all snug inside.

I've got a girlfriend who's got super long hair. I'm going to PM her and see if she's got any suggestions.

I have very long hair and to get mine in my lekku I make two mickey mouse ear type buns then they get stuffed in each lekku. However, that's for my cloth ones, I do not know if Pam's are hollow or not to do that.

I will have a armor tutorial up this week, I will make a new piece and take pics and make charts and such with measurements, and also what I used, and where I got it, and mistakes to avoid, lolz.

Got a reply:
Quote:
My advice would be to take her hair and make anywhere between four to eight braids (depending on how thick her hair is) around her head and wrap each braid individually around her head. Take lots of bobby pins, pin the braids into place, and then spray down the pinned hair with hair spray. With a wig cap worn as well, she should have no problem slipping the headdress on.

She should practice at least once or twice at home to figure out how many braids to make and how they should be wrapped. Ideally, she will want to wrap the braids around her head so they lies evenly and make her head seem a little larger. Any small or loose strands that aren't in a braid can be held back with bobby pins or thin hair clips. The hair spray is to keep strays from slipping out of place.

Hope this helps!!

She has butt length hair and did this to get it under a short hair wig. I was astonished when i saw it! If the lekku is hollow like Darth Kyttee said, the mickey mouse buns would probably be even better, then you wont have ANY bulk on your head.

My hair gets fairly long, but I can still fit it into the headpiece by using a trick that a hairdresser taught me: split your hair in a part all the way from the front to the back, so you have a left side, and a right side. Take the hair from the left side, and wrap it around the top of your head, going from the left, around the back toward the right, around the forehead, and so on until it's all loosely wrapped. Hold that in place and do the same thing with the hair on the right, this time wrapping it in the opposite direction. When that side is done, hold the hair with one hand while you pick up a wig cap with the other. (I generally put my hand inside the cap, and then turn it inside out over my head.) Pull on the wig cap, and then make any adjustments to your hair by "massaging" it under the cap. This is apparently how they used to get Cher's long hair into shorter wigs. It works, and I've never had any problems with it. Of course, I do have one secret to making things easier....

I always let my hair grow out between Celebrations, but each time Celebration comes, I get a chop. That way it's more comfortable for that long weekend of wearing wigs and lekku, I deeply appreciate not having to take care of long hair for a while... and now I have the added feel-good of donating a ponytail for the wigs that are made for cancer patients!

There's a cute picture and a post about getting long hair into a headpiece here:
